A paper in Science looks at bacteria in the soil, which produce antibiotics. These can end up in the microbial community and provide other bacteria with antibiotic resistance. The paper, by researchers from McMaster University, looks at soil bacteria to try and find future antibiotic resistance mechanisms that might be clinically relevant.
